8.8 oz crushed peanuts (8.8 oz = 250 g)
8.8 oz white sugar (8.8 oz = 250 g)
1 cup water
3 tbl honey
1 tbl lemon juice
1 pack filo pastry
3.5 oz butter (3.5 oz = 100 g)
1/3 cup sunflower oil

Welcome to my first Baklava recipe that I post specifically for the #NationalDessertDay!

Baklava is a sweet pastry that you make of layers filo that you usually fill with chopped nuts such as pine-nuts, almonds, peanuts, cashew and held together with syrup or honey.

Golden Peanuts Baklava is a perfect, honey, sweet dessert for the whole family and friends!

Baklava Recipe

Make Syrup

Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil. Stir in honey, lemon juice, reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes.

Preheat oven to 356 °F (180 °C). Melt butter and combine sunflower oil with butter. Toss nuts. Unroll the filo and cut whole pastry in half to fit a tray. Cover the filo with a damp cloth while assembling the baklava, to keep it from drying out. Place two sheets of the filo in the bottom of the prepared dish. Brush generously with butter. Repeat 7-8 layers and toss the nuts. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.

Using a sharp knife, cut baklava into pieces. Bake in the preheated oven 30 minutes, until golden and crisp. Remove the baklava from the oven and immediately spoon the syrup over it. Let cool completely before serving.

Oh yes, baklava is one of the best things ever! The tray that you can see in the image… we finished it in a couple of days 🙂 I am sure your aunt made delicious baklava!
