This Mediterranean Tomato Salad is a perfect salad to serve with any dish – baked fish, grilled octopus, or roasted vegetables. So refreshing!

What is the Best Season to Make This Recipe?

This Tomato Salad with olive oil is the best during the summer months. If you live in a warm climate, you can enjoy this salad year-round.

What are the Health Benefits of This Dish?

Beyond its refreshing taste, this Mediterranean Tomato Salad offers a lot of health benefits inspired by the Mediterranean diet.

Tomatoes, rich in antioxidants and vitamin C, promote heart health.

Olive oil, a big part of Mediterranean cuisine, is a source of healthy monounsaturated fats, while fresh herbs like parsley provide a burst of vitamins and minerals.

Where Can I Buy the Required Ingredients?

Ripe pink tomatoes, plump cherry tomatoes, and aromatic spring onion and parsley can be found at farmers’ markets or grocers specializing in Mediterranean produce.

I recommend buying authentic extra virgin olive oil and red wine vinegar sourced from the Mediterranean region for an authentic touch.

Can I Substitute Any of the Ingredients?

Of course! While the classic combination of tomatoes, olive oil, and herbs forms the heart of this salad, feel free to experiment with herns and tomatoes.

Substitute green olives with kalamata olives for a briny twist or add cucumbers and red onions for extra crunch and flavor.

Spring onion can be substituted with chives or garlic.

Can I Make This Dish Part of a Menu?

Absolutely!

For an appetizer, serve my delicious Shrimp in Garlic Sauce, Spicy Salmon Tartare, or Tuna Carpaccio.

Serve it alongside Veal Cutlets or Poached Salmon in White Wine as the main course.

For dessert, go with my Chocolate Raspberry Tart, Kiwi Pavlova, or Raspberry Pavlova.

Which Drinks Pair Well with This Dish?

I love to serve this salad with classic beverages that complement its juicy flavors.

Crisp, dry white wines such as Vermentino from Italy offer a refreshing contrast to the salad’s acidity, and also a chilled glass of rosé adds a touch to perfection.

A Portuguese wine that would pair beautifully with this salad is Vinho Verde.

For non-alcoholic options, consider serving sparkling water infused with lemon or a refreshing mint tea.

How Long Can I Store the Leftovers?

While best enjoyed fresh, leftovers of this Mediterranean Tomato Salad can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days in an airtight container.

You can simply give this salad a gentle toss before serving to revive its freshness.

Alternatively, you may top it on top of the bruschetta or toss it with cooked pasta for a quick and flavorful pasta salad.

Recipe Tips & Tricks:

  • For an extra burst of flavor, add a sprinkle of crumbled feta cheese or toasted pine nuts to the salad just before serving.
  • Customize the salad to your taste preferences by incorporating additional Mediterranean-inspired ingredients such as roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, or capers.

Enjoy my refreshing and easy Mediterranean Tomato Salad!
